By Art Edelstein, Contributing writer
Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001

  • Heading into their game on the road vs. the Jets, the Chiefs are 1-7 straight up (0-8 against the spread) in their last eight games vs. AFC East opponents.
  • As they prepare for their game at San Francisco, the Saints have covered their last five meetings with the 49ers (3-2 straight up).
  • In the last four regular-season meetings between the Dolphins and Colts, the road team has won and covered each time. However, Miami did win and cover a wild-card game at home vs. Indianapolis last season.
  • The last four meetings between the Bengals and Jaguars in Jacksonville have stayed under the total. … Bengals RB Corey Dillon has not scored a TD in his last five games vs. the Jaguars.
  • Heading into their game at New England, the last three games between the Bills and Patriots have been decided by three points (all overtime games). … The last four contests have stayed under the total.
  • Four of the last five games between the Rams and Panthers have stayed under the total. … Rams QB Kurt Warner has thrown only two TD passes in his last three games.
  • The Cardinals have covered three of their last four games vs. the Giants.
  • Steelers RB Jerome Bettis rushed for more than 100 yards and a TD in each game vs. the Browns last season.
  • Raiders QB Rich Gannon threw a season-high three TD passes vs. the Seahawks in Week Three (he also had three Monday night vs. Denver), two to WR Jerry Rice, who has only one other TD catch this season.
  • Heading into their game in Philadelphia, the Vikings have won and covered their last nine regular-season games vs. NFC East foes. Counting postseason play, the Vikes are 12-2 straight up and 12-2 vs. the spread vs. NFC East teams over the same period. … Vikings QB Daunte Culpepper has thrown more than one TD pass in a game only once this season. He did it 11 times in 2000. WRs Cris Carter and Randy Moss, who caught TD passes in the same game six times last season, have combined for only six TD receptions this season, and they have not found the endzone in the same game yet this season.
