Week 14

PFW Players of the Week

As published in print Dec. 17, 2001

Offense

QB Kordell Stewart
Pittsburgh Steelers

Stewart took it to the Ravens in about every way possible. He completed 20-of-31 passes for a career-high 333 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also ran for 55 yards on 10 carries in guiding the Steelers to a crucial road win over Baltimore that puts them in the driver’s seat in the AFC Central.

Defense

DE Vonnie Holliday
Green Bay Packers

Jessie Armstead and Ray Lewis each registered 16 tackles in their respective games, but Holliday’s success across the board could not be denied. Holliday recorded 10 tackles, two sacks for 13 yards in losses, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a pass defensed. Not a bad day’s work.

Golden Toe

PK Adam Vinatieri
New England Patriots

Vinatieri hit all four of his field-goal attempts (from 40, 32, 25 and 23 yards out), and the Patriots needed all of them. He also proved to be cool under pressure, connecting on the game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter as well as the game-winner in overtime to give New England a 12-9 win at Buffalo.
