Thanksgiving special!

Packers at Lions
Pontiac Silverdome
Pontiac, Mich.
Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001

OVERVIEW: After a critical victory over the Bears in Chicago, the Packers suffered a letdown last week and lost to the Falcons. The defeat dropped Green Bay out of first place in the NFC Central. The Lions are still searching for their first win of the season. Detroit has been more competitive of late, but the lack of a ground attack, coupled with a very poor turnover differential has been too much for the team to overcome. This is a rematch of a Week One game won by the Packers 28-6.

When the Packers have the ball:

The offense has had a hard time maintaining consistency in the passing game. WR Bill Schroeder has been the top receiving target, but the other wideouts need to do more. QB Brett Favre has been forcing some passes, and that has led to six interceptions in the last three games. The Lions’ defense has not had a lot of success pressuring opposing QBs, but DLE Robert Porcher has eight sacks.

When the Lions have the ball:

The absence of a ground game has forced the Lions to rely completely on QB Charlie Batch and the passing attack. Rookie QB Mike McMahon could see some action as Detroit starts to look to the future. Opponents have had an answer recently for Packers DRE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, who recorded three sacks in Week One.
