Week Six fantasy football

Matchups to exploit or avoid

By Jeff Agrest, Senior editor
Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001

This week’s bye teams: Dallas, Miami, Oakland, San Francisco, Seattle

Matchups to exploit

Packers RB Ahman Green could snap out of his yardage slump against the Vikings, who have surrendered more than 100 yards to each of their last three opponents.

Giants WR Amani Toomer has two touchdowns and two 100-yard games in his last four meetings with the Eagles.

Chiefs QB Trent Green might find the endzone against a Cardinals defense that has surrendered eight TD passes in four games.

Considering Vikings QB Daunte Culpepper rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Lions, perhaps Titans QB Steve McNair will have similar success against Detroit.

Matchups to avoid

Bengals RB Corey Dillon might find little room to run against the Bears, who have allowed 87.0 yards rushing per game this season and just one rushing touchdown.

Last season the Falcons were held below 100 yards rushing in two meetings with the Saints, and this season New Orleans has allowed only 86.5 yards rushing per game. That doesn’t bode well for RB Maurice Smith.

Browns RB James Jackson doesn’t have a good matchup against the Ravens, who boast the league’s No. 1 rushing defense (58.2 yards per game).

Buccaneers QB Brad Johnson could have a hard time against a Steelers defense that ranks first in the league in pass defense and third overall in average gain per pass play.
