Week Two fantasy football

Matchups to exploit or avoid

By Jeff Agrest, Senior editor
Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001

This week’s bye teams: New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay

Matchups to exploit

Last season Ravens TE Shannon Sharpe caught three TD passes in two games against the Bengals.

Falcons RB Jamal Anderson had his two best divisional performances last season vs. the Panthers, against whom he broke 90 rushing yards twice and scored two touchdowns.

In each of his five career games against the Titans, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has either scored a touchdown or rushed for 100 yards.

Bears WR Marcus Robinson is returning from back injury just in time. He’ll face a Vikings team against whom he has recorded three touchdowns and a 100-yard game in four career meetings.

Matchups to avoid

In his last five meetings with the Ravens, Bengals RB Corey Dillon has averaged 33.6 rushing yards per game with no touchdowns.

Seahawks WRs Darrell Jackson and Koren Robinson aren’t good plays this week. After Seattle’s offense mustered only nine points and 251 yards against Cleveland, it’s doubtful it will do much better against Philadelphia.

If you saw how well the Chargers defended Redskins RB Stephen Davis last week (14 carries, 35 yards), you’d be hard-pressed to start Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith against San Diego this week.

In each of his two games against Carolina last season, Falcons QB Chris Chandler failed to break the 200-yard passing mark and throw a TD pass.
