Thursday-night game: Philadelphia at Kansas City
Philadelphia — This appears to be a fine
week to start RB Duce Staley. He goes against a Chiefs defense that is ranked 29th
vs. the run. Staley has emerged as the top back on this team, even though it appeared that
rookie Correll Buckhalter would take away quite a few carries. But Buckhalter has
just 26 carries in the last five games, which means that Andy Reid is counting on the
veteran back more.
Kansas City — Priest Holmes, the third-leading rusher in the AFC who is
coming off a 120-yard rushing performance last week vs. Seattle, goes up against an Eagles
run defense that is ranked in the bottom half of the league. … Trent Green
bounced back last week after two subpar outings. Green has two three-TD games and three
300-yard passing games this season, but overall his TD-interception ratio is an abysmal
9-16. Last week’s win over Seattle represented only the second turnover-free game of
the year for Green. … WR Derrick Alexander may finally be completely
healthy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he warrants a starting spot in regard to
fantasy football, because he and Green have had very little time together to develop any
real rapport. … Rookie WR Marvin Minnis could be back from the badly sprained
ankle that sidelined him last week. |
