We want to hear about your fantasy football feuds

By Ron Pollack, Editor-in-chief
Sept. 5, 2001

Fantasy feuds are part of what makes fantasy football so great.

In one of the two Pro Football Weekly 10-team in-house leagues, there is an enormous feud between two friends. In this year’s draft, these two players drafted eighth and ninth.

"You knew there’d be trouble," said the guy picking out of the eighth spot.

In the first and third rounds, Team Eight angered Team Nine by grabbing Terrell Owens and Jamal Anderson.

Team Nine would soon have its revenge.

Team Eight absolutely loved Aaron Brooks, but, noting that Teams Nine and 10 already had drafted quarterbacks, Team Eight decided to take Amani Toomer and wait on Brooks until the sixth round.

Then things heated up when Team Nine took Brooks one pick before Team Eight’s choice.

The owner of Team Eight lives out of town, and here is what he e-mailed me the next day:

"He takes Aaron Brooks. UN-FRICKIN’-BELIEVABLE! And (the league’s commissioner) tells me (Team Nine) did it strictly out of spite. STRICTLY OUT OF SPITE!

"So I’m reeling. I’m stunned. I IM (the commissioner), ‘Tell (the owner of Team Nine) I’m going to fly to Chicago to kill him in his sleep."

He was kidding.

I think.

Then to add insult to injury, Team Nine later traded Brooks to another team.

You’ve got to love fantasy football feuds.

I tell this story for a reason. We’re interested in hearing about the feuds that exist in other fantasy football leagues around the country. We want you to e-mail us stories about the best feuds you are a part of or have seen in a league you play in. These stories will be collected and run in either the print or Internet edition of Pro Football Weekly at a later date.

So send us your most interesting fantasy football feud stories to: editors@pfwa.com
