2002 NFL draft

NFL awards compensatory picks in draft

April 1, 2002

What follows are the 32 compensatory draft picks for the 2002 NFL draft. They were awarded to teams that suffered a net loss of certain quality unrestricted free agents from last offseason. The compensatory choices will be added to the 229 choices already part of the draft, with picks positioned between Rounds Three and Seven based on the value of the free agent lost. Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary and performance. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula. Compensatory picks cannot be traded.

Choices are listed by round with the overall selection in parentheses:

3 (97) Buffalo
3 (98) Arizona
