Garrison Hearst
San Francisco 49ers

Hearst carried 20 times for 187 yards and two touchdowns in the Niners’ 36-30 overtime win over the Jets. His breathtaking, 96-yard TD run about four minutes into overtime won it for San Francisco. Hearst averaged 9.4 yards per carry.

 

Defense

Derrick Thomas
Kansas City Chiefs

What didn’t Thomas do? In the Chiefs’ 28-8 win over Oakland, Thomas recorded six sacks for 36 yards in losses, nine solo tackles and a forced fumble. He also predicted and followed through with a safety of Jeff George in the closing minutes.

 

Golden Toe

John Carney
San Diego Chargers

Carney matched the longest field goal of his career with a 54-yarder in San Diego’s 16-14 win over Buffalo. Carney also connected from 47 and 48 yards
