Week Four fantasy tips

By Andy Hanacek, Associate editor and XFL analyst

Finally, it seems that we’ve found some trends that we can take advantage of in the fantasy football world, as far as the XFL goes. Three weeks’ worth of stats make a difference, and it will likely get clearer as we move through the weeks. Here are some tips for you this week:
  • You might want to take a good look at Hitmen WR Anthony DiCosmo this week. He is New York/New Jersey’s leading receiver with 14 receptions and is facing the worst defense in the league — the Enforcers. The Hitmen have the second-worst offense in the league, so something’s got to give. If the Hitmen start QB Wally Richardson, the passing game could thrive.
  • On that last tip, I’d wait a week before jumping on the Richardson bandwagon. Let’s see if the Hitmen are willing to commit to benching Charles Puleri on the road. Maybe playing away from home boo-birds would help him straighten out his game.
  • You might consider keeping an eye on Memphis Maniax QB Jim Druckenmiller. He got some significant playing time last week, and though not impressive, could become Marcus Crandell’s permanent replacement.
  • Birmingham Bolts offensive players are moving up in the charts. RB James Bostic, QB Casey Weldon and WR Stepfret Williams all would be very solid signings, especially at the pace at which they are improving. Weldon and Williams seem to have a very dangerous rhythm evolving between them, and Bostic has run well in the past two weeks.
  • Looking for defense? Look no further than Las Vegas. Three Outlaws defenders rank in the top 10 in sacks, with Kelvin Kinney (4) and Antonio Edwards (3) ranked Nos. 1 and 2. Carl Simpson has two sacks.
  • Avery Watch 2001: Enforcers RB John Avery could have a rough time Saturday night. The weatherman has predicted a ton of rain for the Chicagoland area and driving winds. Choose wisely.
