Lyle re-signs with Jets
The Jets re-signed unrestricted free agent DE Rick Lyle Monday. The eight-year veteran
had 48 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble last season before breaking his leg Dec.
10. The Jets will be shifting from a 3-4 allignment to a 4-3 in 2001.
Buchsbaum: He was a very solid player in the old two-gap, three-linemen defense, but
the question is, where does he fit in the new four-man line? He really isn’t quick
enough to be a pass-rushing end, and he isn’t quite as big as you’d like a
tackle to be. As a run-down end, he might be OK.
Profootballweekly.com: Speaking of the Jets, this is a team that you seem to
think will make a jump up this season, don’t you?
Buchsbaum: Yes. Last year they had a devastating number of injuries, they had a problem
with the coach, they had a new staff with some weak links and they still finished 9-7. |
