ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum for his thoughts on the news around the NFL.

Broncos make moves at linebacker

The Broncos have released LB Glenn Cadrez. According to a report on DenverPost.com, the Broncos have reached agreements with LBs Lee Woodall and Henri Crockett.

ProFootballWeekly.com: If this report is true, what does it mean for the Broncos?

Buchsbaum: Woodall and Crockett woud give the Broncos great depth because they also have Ian Gold, but it also makes you wonder a little bit about what Bill Romanowski’s status is in terms of whether they’re going to keep him or not.

ProFootballWeekly.com: Can you give a scouting report on Woodall and Crockett?

Buchsbaum: (Woodall) is a declining player that was very good in his prime. He’s basically a weak-side linebacker that has to be protected. He’s fairly instinctive. He’s still a good athlete. He still runs well. Crockett is a pure strong-side/middle-type linebacker. Average instincts. Can hammer a tight end.

What quality unrestricted players are still available on the free-agent market?

Now that the draft is over, we asked Joel Buchsbaum to talk about unrestricted players who interest him that are still available on the free-agent market.

Buchsbaum: You still have some quality players out there. Atlanta, I don’t think, has signed Morten Andersen yet. Baltimore hasn’t done anything with Cornell Brown. Trent Dilfer is still out there. I’m not saying quality quality. Sam Gash is still out there. The linebacker for the Bills is still out there — Sam Rogers. Rod Woodson is still a good player. He’s not what he was. OG-OT Matt Campbell in Carolina. And they haven’t re-signed Michael Bates who is a real good special teams player. The Bengals Corey Dillon is still out there. That’s with restraints, but he’s still out there. He still could be a player depending on where the price tag goes. Terrell Buckley is still out there. Herman Moore is probably going to be out there June 1. He doesn’t have as much as he had, but I still think he can contribute. Tracy Scroggins is out there. William Thomas of the Raiders is out there. He fits that system very well. He’d have a difficult time in a lot of systems, but he fits that one well. Eric Davis is still a quality corner. Jason Belser still can help someone at safety. Daimon Shelton is a decent fullback. Dave Szott may have something left at guard. Brock Marion is a solid safety. Bruce Armstrong doesn’t have a lot left, but he’s still out there. If I’m not mistaken, Henry Thomas is still out there. Same situation. Chris Slade is still out there. Same situation. They’ve been there, done that type of guys. Brad Daluiso is out there. Rick Lyle, the defensive lineman for the Jets, is out there. Andre Rison is out there. He contributed to them (Raiders). He was a plus for them last year. Zack Crockett is out there. Ben Coleman is out there, decent offensive lineman. Raleigh Roundtree is out there. Sean Dawkins, decent receiver. Lorenzo Neal. Al Del Greco. Yancey Thigpen. If Thigpen can stay healthy he can still be a major contributor, but he hasn’t been healthy in so long you just don’t know how much is left in the tank. Tré Johnson. Keith Sims. The injuries are a major concern (with Johnson and Sims), but they both were playing well last year before they got hurt. Adrian Murrell isn’t that far removed from being a 1,000-yard back. And just remember, we haven’t even hit the June 1 cuts yet.
