Moss, Kearse head list of future superstars

NFL insiders were asked to name five players they believe will be superstars in the next five years — players we will talk about in 2010 the way we talk about Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, Barry Sanders, Anthony Munoz and Lawrence Taylor today.

1. Randy Moss — "Best athlete in the NFL and most gifted wide receiver ever. The only person who can keep Randy Moss out of Canton is Randy Moss."

2. Jevon Kearse — "Not as tough as Lawrence Taylor was but much more receptive to coaching and even more athletically gifted. He could be ‘Superman’ if he does not get caught up in the celebrity thing."

3. Peyton Manning — "Everyone talks about the running quarterbacks, but ask almost anyone in the league who they would want to build their team around, and Peyton would be a near-unanimous choice. He’s got Bernie Kosar’s brain, Dan Fouts’ toughness, vision and passing skills and more athletic ability than either of those guys."

4. Jonathan Ogden — "Has Munoz-type ability and is a bigger man. Rare athletic ability for his size, but unlike Anthony, he still has not learned to push himself to the limit."

5. Champ Bailey — "He may be the Skins’ best cornerback already, and that is on a team with two Hall of Famers and (two of the) best players of all time."

Others mentioned the most — Edgerrin James, Courtney Brown, Ray Lewis, Charles Woodson, Darrell Russell and Orlando Pace.
