Rams RB
Marshall Faulk
|
My job was to put together a dream team that would win the 2001 Super Bowl. Since
football is a team sport, chemistry was a big factor in my selections, and I looked for
people who could work together and sacrifice individual goals for the good of the team.
General manager
Ron Wolf / Packers
Head coach
Mike Holmgren / Seahawks
Offensive coordinator
Mike Martz / Rams
Defensive coordinator
Bill Belichick / Patriots
Offense
Quarterback
Peyton Manning / Colts
He is the best in the game right now and is a great leader who inspires those around
him to work harder.
Running back
Marshall Faulk / Rams
Faulk gets the edge over Edgerrin James because Faulk is less likely to fumble or miss
a blitz pickup assignment and is a more polished receiver.
Wide receiver
Randy Moss / Vikings
Nobody has more talent. Hes the prototype wide receiver with super rare size,
speed, jumping ability and innate ball skills, and he has great agility for a big man.
Wide receiver
Cris Carter / Vikings
He keeps Moss from being a problem, provides great leadership and veteran savvy and is
still a very effective possession receiver who can make some big plays.
Wide receiver
Marvin Harrison / Colts
Mannings go-to receiver with the Colts and a terrific player who would be almost
unstoppable if lined up in the slot.
Tight end
Ken Dilger / Colts
He is not the best, but he is unselfish and very good at both blocking and catching.
Left tackle
Orlando Pace / Rams
Tony Boselli is coming off knee surgery, Willie Roaf has too many lapses and I wanted
to move Jonathan Ogden to right guard.
Left guard
Larry Allen / Cowboys
The best in the business.
Center
Kevin Mawae / Jets
Terrific player and leader.
Right guard
Jonathan Ogden / Ravens
With Ogdens ability to run, trap and adjust on the move, he could be an all-time
great guard as well as a great tackle.
Right tackle
Jon Runyan / Eagles
Not the most athletic, but he is very tough and physical and adds a sense of toughness
and meanness to this group.
Defense
Defensive end
Kevin Carter / Rams
Excels vs. both the run and the pass and does not miss games with injury.
Defensive tackle
Warren Sapp / Buccaneers
Very, very disruptive and athletic.
Defensive tackle
Bryant Young / 49ers
A great leader who is still a great player and an unselfish one.
Defensive end
Jevon Kearse / Titans
Could be the next Lawrence Taylor.
Middle linebacker
Ray Lewis / Ravens
A man on a mission with great speed and range.
Strong-side linebacker
Kevin Hardy / Jaguars
Even better on the weak side and when used as a rusher, but Hardy has the size you want
on the strong side and experience.
Weak-side linebacker
Derrick Brooks / Buccaneers
Covers receivers like an extra defensive back and makes plays sideline to sideline.
Cornerback
Charles Woodson / Raiders
Prototype ability and a playmaker.
Cornerback
Shawn Springs / Seahawks
Excellent in coverage and will hit and support against the run.
Free safety
Brian Dawkins / Eagles
Covers like a corner, hits like a linebacker and is starting to see the big picture.
Strong safety
Robert Griffith / Vikings
The most underrated defensive back in the game. He can add some veteran leadership to a
young group.
Specialists
Punter
Craig Hentrich / Titans
A top punter who can run, throw and kick off.
Kicker
Jason Elam / Broncos
He is very accurate and has an extremely strong leg. (Elam is currently out with a back
injury.)
