Seahawks receivers

Attempting to fill the void left by Sean Dawkins’ release, the Seahawks are reportedly set to sign former Ravens WR Justin Armour.

Armour, an unrestricted free agent, is likely to sign a one-year contract worth $440,000, the veteran minimum. However, negotiations for incentive clauses are reportedly ongoing.

Dawkins was released in a salary-cap move June 8. He continues to talk with other teams in search of a job.

Armour caught 37 passes for 538 yards and four touchdowns last season, averaging 14.5 yards per reception. Dawkins, a seven-year veteran, caught 58 passes for 992 yards and seven touchdowns. His 17.1-yard average per catch last season tied for second best in the AFC among receivers with at least 30 receptions.

ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum for his thoughts on both Armour and Dawkins.

Q: What would Armour give the Seahawks?

Buchsbaum: He’d give them a big possession receiver to replace (Sean) Dawkins in the equation.

Q: What do you make of Dawkins’ situation?

Buchsbaum: He’s talking with the Raiders and the Jets very seriously. The Colts are in there as well.

Q: What kind of player is he?

Buchsbaum: He’s a big receiver who uses his size well. He’s not overly physical for a guy that size. He’s not overly quick, and he’s not fast. But he’s effective in the red zone because of his size.
