The Dolphins' signing of CB Sam Madison

| The Dolphins signed CB Sam Madison
to a seven-year contract extension Wednesday, giving him the richest deal in team history. The
deal is reportedly worth $54 million over eight years. (Madison had one year remaining on
his current deal.)
Madison, who is entering his fourth season, was voted a Pro Bowl starter last season
after he tied for the NFL lead with seven interceptions. He has 15 picks over the past two
years, the most ever by a Dolphin in consecutive seasons.
ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum about the move.
Q: What does Madison do well?
Buchsbaum: Basically, his strengths are his confidence, his cover ability and his
ability to play the ball. He doesn’t have a great weakness, but he doesn’t have
superior physical talent, like, say, a Deion Sanders.
Q: Will the new coaching staff have any effect on Madison?
Buchsbaum: Not unless they change the style of defense, because Madison liked what they
were doing last year when they were playing a lot of man on man. |
