More trouble for Sebastian Janikowski

| Raiders first-round pick Sebastian
Janikowski was arrested earlier this week and charged with one count of felony possession
of a controlled substance. Janikowski and two friends were stopped by Tallahassee, Fla.,
police. The three were found with GHB, also known as "scoop" and sometimes
called a date-rape drug because it can knock someone out when mixed with alcohol.
Janikowski was the first placekicker taken in the first round in 21 years. He is not a
U.S. citizen, and resident aliens who commit felonies might face deportation.
Earlier this month, Janikowski was found innocent of charges that he tried to bribe a
policeman $300 to let his roommate go after a nightclub arrest.
Janikowski made his first minicamp appearance in Oakland earlier this month and was
impressive, hitting several field goals from 56 yards.
ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum about Janikowski.
Q: What do you make of Janikowski’s situation?
Buchsbaum: Maybe the worst thing that has happened to Sebastian Janikowski was that he
was acquitted of the first charge. Now it seems like he just hasn’t learned his
lesson, and he’s in more trouble. His most recent arrest could also get him in hot
water with the league and at least lead to a minor suspension at the start of the year,
unless (he is found innocent of these charges). |
