The injury to Patriots' rookie OL Adrian
Klemm

| Adrian Klemm, the New England
Patriots' top pick in April's NFL draft, had knee surgery and is expected to miss training
camp. The offensive lineman from Hawaii, taken in the second round with the 46th pick
overall, damaged his right lateral collateral ligament during drills Saturday at the
team's minicamp, head coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday.
Klemm, a 6-foot-4, 306-pound tackle, had surgery Monday.
ProFootballWeekly.com asked editor-in-chief Ron Pollack to weigh in on the subject.
Q: How much will this impact Klemm's progress.
Pollack: Long term there's no way to know right now. In the short term it will hurt
Klemm tremendously. The word on him from scouts before the draft was that he was raw and
needed a lot of work. His positives were his size and athletic ability. His negatives were
inconsistency, lapses in technique and a need to get stronger. This was a player that was
going to take a little time even if he was willing to pay the price. Missing training camp
will really set him back in his rookie year. |
