Rush Limbaugh and ‘Monday Night Football’

Rush Limbaugh confirmed this week that he has auditioned for a spot in the "Monday Night Football" booth. There is at least one opening in the booth after "MNF" let Boomer Esiason go.

The conservative radio talk show host called a prerecorded game with "MNF" play-by-play man Al Michaels. Limbaugh said he "really dug it."

ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum for his opinion on Limbaugh’s chances and whom he would recommend for the "MNF" booth.

Q: What do you think of Rush Limbaugh potentially joining the "Monday Night Football" booth?

Buchsbaum: I really can’t voice an opinion without having heard how much knowledge Rush Limbaugh has and seeing how quickly he reacts to things happening around him on a football field. He’s a very witty guy, a very bright guy. Politically, you may dislike him, or you may like him. He’s a hot-and-cold guy like Howard Cosell. But to me the key thing is his knowledge of football and his ability to translate it to the viewers.

Q: Whom would you recommend for the "MNF" booth?

Buchsbaum: The people that I would consider first would be Marv Levy, who I think has a beautiful grasp of the game and can relate very well to people, or Bobby Beathard, who’s got tremendous inside knowledge, great people skills and a very unassuming personality.
