Lions' re-signing of DT Kelvin Pritchett
|
| The Lions have re-signed
unrestricted free-agent DT Kelvin Pritchett to a one-year deal, with an additional
one-year club option. Pritchett was a key member of the Lions regular DL rotation
in 1999. Used mostly in a backup role, Pritchett played in all 16 games, starting twice,
with 26 tackles, 20 solo and six assists.
ProFootballWeekly.com asked contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum to weigh in on the
subject.
Q: What does this re-signing do for the Lions?
Buchsbaum: Pritchett is right now a declining player. A decent backup. Hes a
first-round pick that never really developed the way he was supposed to. Now hes in
the twilight of his career. He gives them depth, and he allows them to rest the starters a
little bit more. And thats important because James Jones and Luther Elliss play so
hard that they wear down. |
