The Saints’ release of Tyronne Drakeford

| The Saints cut CB Tyronne Drakeford
Wednesday after he declined to agree to a pay cut. The six-year veteran had three years
left on a $9.5 million contract and was scheduled to make $1.53 million in base salary in
2000. He played two years in New Orleans after spending four seasons in San Francisco.
"We did not see Tyronne as a starter and could not see paying him like one,"
Saints GM Randy Mueller said.

Q: Does Drakeford offer much to teams looking for a cornerback right now?
Buchsbaum: He’s a hot-and-cold player who has had a hot-and-cold career. He has a
tendency to gamble too much. But he is a cornerback.
Q: What is the scouting report on Drakeford from a physical standpoint?
Buchsbaum: He has average size and a little-bit-above-average speed but not great
speed. |
