Super Bowl XXXIV insights
Q&A with Rams CB Dre Bly
Interviewed Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000
|
| Asked whether its easier to pull a muscle because
they are playing the game in a dome but are practicing in the cold weather: Bly:
"Whatever it takes to get the job done. If we have to go outside and practice in the
cold, then that is what we have to do. I am not calling the shots. Coach Vermeil calls the
shots, and whatever he says is what we will do."
Asked how it feels to play in the league only one year yet earn a berth in the Super
Bowl:
Bly: "It is a wonderful thing. I guess it hasnt really hit me yet with all
that has been going on. I guess that it will hit me towards the end of the week. This year
has been so great. To be a part of this team and experience what we have experienced this
year, I feel very fortunate. I am just going to try to make the most of it. For guys like
Ray Agnew and Todd Lyght that have been in the league for nine-plus years, and then to
finally make it to the Super Bowl, it has been a wait for them. I am just going to cherish
it while Im here because the chances of making it back to the Super Bowl are slim.
Things change and happen in the NFL, so Im just going to make the best of it."
Asked if the Super Bowl is living up to his expectations:
Bly: "Yes, it is living up to my expectations. I always wondered what it was like
going to the Super Bowl, all the events, the media attention. Its all that I
expected. I like the media because it is the hype to the game. It is wonderful."
Asked about Rams players, not just the stars, stepping up to make big plays this
season:
Bly: "That is the reason why we are here today because you never know who is going
to step up. In our offense, there are other guys besides our dominant guys that can step
up at any given time. Whoever is called upon, they step up. I think that is the reason why
we are here today because of the overall team success and the ability that we
possess."
Asked about getting another chance to play the Titans:
Bly: "I think that this will make our run better, to play Tennessee again, because
they beat us in the middle of the season. But guys are just happy to be here and looking
forward to the chance to play."
