Woodson, Springs best cornerbacks

| Opinion Man takes a look at defensive backs:  The Raiders’
Charles Woodson and the Seahawks’ Shawn Springs are easily the two best cornerbacks
in football. It’s really a coin flip between the two, but if pressed for a choice
I’d take Springs over Woodson.
By the end of
this upcoming season, I think the Redskins’ Champ Bailey will rank No. 3 on the list.
I think Rams
CB Todd Lyght is a quality performer, but I think last season was a career year. I
wouldn’t be surprised to see a little slippage in 2000.
Look for
Ravens CB Chris McAlister and Jaguars CB Fernando Bryant to shoot up the CB charts this
season.
The fact that
Redskins CB Darrell Green is still playing so well at a young man’s position is one
of the most amazing things in all of sports. How he still runs so fast at age 40 defies
explanation.
I think Lions
CB Bryant Westbrook will play much better this season.
The safety
position has lost some luster now that LeRoy Butler, Carnell Lake and Darren Woodson
aren’t what they once were.
I think Bears
S Tony Parrish will really come on this season.
