Trends, Tips and Timely Stats — Week 12

By Art Edelstein

  • Heading into their game Sunday, the Steelers had not covered their last six home games (dating back to last season), and the Bengals had not covered their last four on the road.
  • The Lions are 6-4 overall, but straight up as a favorite they are 0-2. The Bears have covered four of their last five on the road.
  • Heading into their game in Oakland, the Chiefs are 1-4 straight up and vs. the spread on the road.
  • Heading into their Thanksgiving battle vs. the Dolphins, the Cowboys are 4-0 straight up and vs. the spread at home, winning each of those games by at least 14 points.
  • Heading into their game vs. the Seahawks, the Buccaneers have covered their last three games.
  • Seahawks WR Sean Dawkins has really benefited from the return of Joey Galloway. Dawkins, who had one TD in Games 2-8, has a TD in each of his last two games with 205 receiving yards.
  • Heading into their game at St. Louis, the Saints have lost three straight on the road straight up and vs. the spread.
  • Falcons WR Tim Dwight has scored four TDs in his last three games, three as a receiver and one as a runner.
  • Titans QB Steve McNair has not thrown a TD pass in his last three games.
  • San Francisco RB Charlie Garner has not scored a rushing TD since Week Three.
  • When the Chargers and Vikings play Sunday, it would be a surprise if either team scored a rushing TD. San Diego has not scored on the ground since Week Six, and Minnesota hasn't since Week Seven.
  • The Ravens, who host Jacksonville Sunday, held the Jaguars to 47 rushing yards two weeks ago.
  • The Bears did not throw an interception last week for the first time since Week Five.
  • The Browns gained more than 300 yards in a game for the first time last week.
