Trends, Tips and Timely Stats — Week 10

By Art Edelstein

  • Heading into their game in St. Louis, the Panthers have lost their previous two games, straight up and vs. the spread, in domes this season. However, Carolina has won and covered three straight in St. Louis. The Rams are 4-0 at home, winning every game by at least 17 points. The Rams have given up more than 10 points at home only once this season.
  • As favorites in their last two games vs. the Cardinals, the Lions have lost straight up.
  • The Jets have covered their last two games in Foxboro and three of their last four.
  • Four of the last five games between the Raiders and the Chargers have stayed under the total.
  • The Raiders have not had a running back rush for 40 yards or more since Week Six (QB Rich Gannon did it in Week Seven).
  • The Saints’ only rushing TD is a two-yarder by QB Billy Joe Hobert.
  • If turnovers play a role in the Chiefs-Buccaneers game, Kansas City should have the edge. The Chiefs are No. 1 (plus-14) and the Bucs are tied for last (minus-10) in turnover differential heading into Week 10.
  • The Chiefs have eight rushing TDs this season, but the Buccaneers' defense has only allowed one.
  • Heading into Week 10 games, the Dolphins (vs. the Bills) and the Jaguars (vs. the Ravens) are the only teams that have not given up a rushing TD.
  • The Dolphins have won seven straight, including playoffs, when they have held their opponent to 21 or fewer points.
  • The Seahawks finally got their first rushing TD last week, but they are still the only team that has not been successful on a fourth-down conversion (0-4).
  • After being shut out by the Dolphins, watch for an offensive explosion from the Titans. Tennessee faces a Cincinnati team that has given up 109 points in its last three games.
