Trends, tips and timely stats — Week Seven

By Art Edelstein

  • The last four meetings between the Colts and Bengals have gone over the total.
  • The Broncos have won four straight games vs. the Patriots, covering the pointspread three times.
  • The Raiders committed no turnovers last week, the first time the team has gone without a miscue since Week Eight of last season.
  • Vikings WRs Randy Moss and Cris Carter each caught a TD pass last week — the first time they have both caught TD passes in the same game this season. Last season the duo accomplished the feat seven times.
  • Bengals RB Corey Dillon has not scored a TD since Week One.
  • Talk about symmetry of No. 5 picks. Last year's No. 5 pick, Bears RB Curtis Enis, played in nine games and did not score a TD. This year’s No. 5 pick, Saints RB Ricky Williams, is on a similar pace. He has not scored a TD yet this season.
  • Many teams, including the Bears and the Saints, are struggling to score TDs on the ground this year. The Seahawks are the only team in the league still without a rushing TD. The Saints have one rushing TD, but it was by QB Billy Joe Hobert. Two other teams (Bears and Eagles) have only one rushing TD through Week Six. The combined record of those four teams is 9-13.
  • Redskins RB Stephen Davis has nine rushing TDs. The Seahawks, Saints, Bears Eagles, Ravens and Browns have combined for four rushing TDs by their running backs.
  • Only three teams — Oakland, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville — have more rushing TDs than passing TDs.
