Trends, tips and timely stats — Week Five

• Normally turnovers are a determining factor in a team's fortunes, but that has not been the case with the Bears. Chicago is a minus-5 in its two wins and a plus-4 in its two losses.

• Turnovers have played a key role for the Cardinals. Arizona has committed at least four turnovers in each of its games, due in large part to the 12 interceptions thrown by QB Jake Plummer.

• As a result of those turnovers, Cards RB Adrian Murrell has had his production drop dramatically. He scored seven TDs in his final seven regular-season games of 1998 but has been shut out so far this season.

• The Giants have won seven of their last eight games vs. the Cardinals.

• The winless Falcons have won eight straight games vs. the Saints, covering the pointspread in seven of those games.

• Heading into this week's game vs. the Eagles, the Cowboys have won 10 straight regular-season games vs. NFC East rivals.

• Heading into this week's game vs. the Ravens, the Titans have won nine straight and have covered the pointspread in nine of their last 12 games vs. AFC Central foes.

• Heading into this week's game at Indianapolis, the Dolphins have lost three straight on turf straight up and vs. the spread.

• The Eagles have not thrown a TD pass to a wide receiver in their last six games.

• Buccaneers QB Trent Dilfer's 301 yards passing last week marked his first 300-yard game since Week 12 of 1996.

• The Bus has been stalled in Pittsburgh. RB Jerome Bettis has scored only one TD in his last 14 games.
