Trotter, Rolle are much improved in Year Two

We asked NFL insiders to name the second-year players who have upgraded their games the most this season. All responses were made anonymously.

1. MLB Jeremiah Trotter, Eagles — "If he were not a third-round pick, I feel they might have cut him last year. Now he is playing like he has a chance to go to the Pro Bowl."

2. CB Samari Rolle, Titans — "Last year he was their third corner. This year he has games when he looks like the third-best cornerback in football."

3. MLB London Fletcher, Rams — "Undrafted free agent who did not play until late in his rookie year. Now he is starting in the middle for a very good football team and making a lot of plays. He looks like (former Saints and Panthers MLB) Sam Mills. I doubt (Fletcher) is 5-foot-10, but he can find the ball and run to it."

4. WR Kevin Dyson, Titans — "(Was) clueless as a rookie and now is a pretty solid starter who has made big plays."

5. DE Grant Wistrom, Rams — "I felt he was a bust as a rookie. Now he is playing at a solid level and seems to have an upside. Major improvement from Year One to Year Two."

Others mentioned by our panel:

QB Peyton Manning, Colts; QB Charlie Batch, Lions; DE Greg Ellis and OLB Darren Hambrick, Cowboys; CB Eric Warfield, Chiefs; S Lance Schulters, 49ers; MLB Anthony Simmons, Seahawks; OLB Zack Walz, Cardinals; ILB Brian Simmons, Bengals; TE Stephen Alexander, Redskins; OT Mo Collins and OG Gennaro DiNapoli, Raiders.
