Rams, Vikings have plenty of firepower

Peyton Manning

We asked NFL insiders to name the team with the most weapons on offense. Here is a compilation of the replies. All responses were made anonymously.

1. St. Louis Rams — "As long as the quarterback (Kurt Warner) stays in the zone. A healthy Isaac Bruce is as good as any receiver in the game, and Torry Holt is one of the best rookies you will ever see. Az Hakim is great in the slot. Marshall Faulk is a terrific runner and receiver, and FB Robert Holcombe has better run skills than most fullbacks and fine hands."

2. Minnesota Vikings — "Nobody can match up with Randy Moss, Cris Carter, Jake Reed and Matthew Hatchette. Jeff George may not be a great quarterback, but he is a great thrower, and Robert Smith is a big-play runner."

3. Indianapolis Colts — "Peyton Manning may be the best quarterback to come into the league since Brett Favre. Edgerrin James is looking more and more like a franchise back. Ken Dilger is the most complete tight end in football, and Marcus Pollard is one of the most athletic. Marvin Harrison has taken the next step at wide receiver and is playing like an All-Pro. … Terrence Wilkins is a playmaker."

4. Washington Redskins — "Nobody has more players that have improved (this) dramatically. Brad Johnson, Stephen Alexander, Stephen Davis and Michael Westbrook are all having Pro Bowl-type years."

5. San Francisco 49ers — "Only if Steve Young comes back and Charlie Garner stays healthy."

6. New England Patriots — "(They have Drew) Bledsoe, (Terry) Glenn and (Ben) Coates but, like the 49ers, don’t have a premier back."
