Matchups to exploit or avoid

Matchups to exploit

Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith has scored six touchdowns in his last five games vs. the Redskins.

Colts WR Marvin Harrison has scored six touchdowns in his last seven games vs. the Bills.

The Giants should be able to take advantage of a susceptible Steelers run defense that has allowed five of its last six opponents to gain more than 100 yards. In fact, two of them have broken the 200-yard mark.

Ravens QB Trent Dilfer should pick up where he left off before Baltimore’s bye vs. a Chargers defense that has been beaten often in recent weeks.

Matchups to avoid

It’s not the best idea to start any Chargers this week, especially considering the Ravens have allowed no more than nine points in four of their last five games.

It doesn’t seem to matter whom the Bears play; they just don’t make a good matchup. They’ve scored one offensive touchdown in their last 18 quarters.

The Jaguars are on top of their game, and that doesn’t bode well for a Cardinals team that hasn’t rushed for more than 88 yards in its last five games.

The Dolphins figure to come back to earth vs. a Buccaneers defense that has held its last six opponents to 17 points or fewer.
