Thursday night

Detroit — QB Charlie Batch returned to the practice field Tuesday and is expected to start Thursday night vs. the Vikings. Batch, who suffered bruised ribs in the Thanksgiving Day win over the Patriots, appeared to be close to normal during the session, but he didn’t make any deep throws. Batch and the Lions’ offense are coming off consecutive solid showings. After throwing one TD pass in his previous four games, Batch has thrown four in the last two, and he ran for a score last week. … In the teams’ previous meeting this season, RB James Stewart rushed for a season-high 123 yards on 20 carries.

Minnesota — The Vikings’ offense continues to roll with WR Randy Moss the featured attraction. That should hold true to form Thursday vs. the Lions. In the teams’ previous meeting this season, Moss caught seven passes for 168 yards for three touchdowns, often beating double and triple coverage. Moss again showcased his incredible talents last Thursday vs. Dallas, catching seven passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. It marked Moss’ fourth straight 100-yard-receiving game and seventh of the season. He’s also scored at least one touchdown in three straight games.
