Flip a coin
So many surprises and disappointments in the NFL have made lineup selections a major
problem

| Think you know your stuff when it comes to fantasy football?
Well, chances are, the injuries (Jamal Anderson, Terrell Davis, Vinny Testaverde, etc.)
and surprises (Kurt Warner, Stephen Davis, Marcus Robinson, etc.) of this football season
surely brought that ego down to earth in a hurry and sent you scrambling through the
free-agent list. Never at least not in recent memory has the weekly task of
choosing fantasy starters been so troubling. If for some reason it hasnt been a
problem for you, take a moment to consider a few of the following statistical shockers
that have the rest of us scratching our heads.
Falcons WR Tim Dwight has four touchdowns in his last four games. Teammate Terance
Mathis has one over the same stretch. A list of other NFL receivers that is too long to
run through, have none.
Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe has tossed nine interceptions in his last three games. Rams QB
Kurt Warner threw 14 touchdown passes in his first four.
RBs Robert Smith, Warrick Dunn, Napoleon Kaufman and Adrian Murrell have yet to reach
the endzone rushing the football.
Heading into Week Six, Panthers RB Tshimanga Biakabutuka was gaining more yards per
rush than 49ers WR Jerry Rice was per reception.
Imagine if I had told you at the beginning of the year that going into Week 13,
Redskins RB Stephen Davis would have more rushing touchdowns than Anderson, Fred
Taylor, Curtis Martin, Ricky Watters, Dorsey Levens and Ricky Williams combined.
Warner and fellow NFC QBs Jeff George, Steve Beuerlein, Brad Johnson and the
Bears duo of Shane Matthews and Jim Miller (now suspended for four games) would be solid
fantasy starters.
All of these interesting facts may very well make you feel like giving up on trying to
select a fantasy football lineup. But with only a few weeks left to play in most fantasy
leagues, now is the time to trust your gut feeling even if its giving you a
stomachache. |
