Go ahead and start Cowboy RB Emmitt Smith this week. Smith showed last
week that his injured groin isnt bad enough to keep him out of the lineup, and this
week he faces a Redskin run defense that seems to have gotten worse, not better, since
they acquired Dana Stubblefield and Dan Wilkinson. Washington ranks 29th in the
league in run defense.

If youre looking for a quarterback to start this week, you might
consider Carolinas Kerry Collins. He didnt have a very good completion
percentage last week vs. the Packers, but Collins did throw two TD passes for the second
time in three games. He now has five on the season. The Falcon pass defense ranks
dead-last in the league.

 |
Even though he has shown signs of promise, you may want to hold out
Bear rookie RB Curtis Enis this week. The Bears face the Lions, whose run defense has been
surprisingly stingy so far this season. Detroit has surrendered 76 or fewer rushing yards
in three of its four games.

You should probably shy away from Jet quarterbacks this Sunday. As of
mid-week, head coach Bill Parcells hadnt named a starter for the Dolphin game. Glenn
Foley is still on the mend from a rib injury, and his status could be a game-time
decision. Miami, meanwhile, ranks second in the league in pass defense.
|
 |
The Dolphins ranks second behind only the Chiefs, who also rank first
in the league in QB sack percentage. You cant sit down Seahawk QB Warren Moon or WR
Joey Galloway, but you probably dont want to play Seattles
"secondary" receivers, such as Mike Pritchard, James McKnight and Christian
Fauria.

 |
The 49ers rank 29th in the league in passing yards allowed
per game, but dont consider that an open invitation to start Bill QB Rob Johnson and
his receivers this week. After yielding 406 yards to the Jets in Week One, the 49ers have
allowed an average of just 202 passing yards per game despite jumping out to huge
leads in both contests. |
